Due to various reasons, this is my 1st time
going home. This is a journey that I had been wanting to make for so long, the
chance to see my family again and to meet new members of my family. This was a
trip like no other! I am lucky as I got to experience this with my Son Daniel
now aged 11. Daniel had never met any of our Colombian relatives. We left the
U.K knowing that this journey was going to be a blast!
The day before our flight we got the train from Glasgow
to London Euston with Virgin Trains. When we arrived in London, we met Daniel’s
Uncle Brian where we spent the night before going to London Heathrow Airport.
On the day of the flight we were very excited for our
trip, I couldn’t believe that I was going to see my family! This was a trip
that I had dreamt about and talked about for a number of years and now it was a
reality! My boy Daniel always said to me we would make the trip and we did!
Avianca is the number 1 airline serving Colombia and they
were our 1st choice. We had a fantastic flight from London Heathrow
to Bogota, the capital of Colombia. This was Daniel’s very 1st time
flying and he was very nervous and apprehensive but he enjoyed it!

We arrived in Bogota and it was then that it hit me, I
was home! Finally! However, we still had another flight to go. This time on a
tiny Fokker airplane from Bogota to Manizales where my beautiful family were
waiting for me! The 2nd flight was quite nerve wracking and not an
experience I ever want to repeat. This was because it was on a tiny plane with
propellers!
We landed in Manizales and coming into the airport I knew
I was home. You can live in many different places around the world but your
home is always your home!
We collected our bags and on the other side of the window
in the baggage terminal, I couldn’t believe my eyes my family were there right
in front of me!
